Biography
Moisés Anaya (Mexico, 1987) is a director and cinematographer whose work bridges documentary, fiction, and commercial media with a distinctive visual style and a focus on culturally resonant storytelling. With over ten years of experience, Anaya has collaborated with platforms such as Netflix, Discovery Channel, and Vice, as well as NGOs and independent production companies across Latin America and Europe. His career began gaining traction in 2014 with his selection for Labour in a Single Shot and his win at RetoDocs during DocMX. He later refined his craft at the New York Film Academy in 2015. Since then, his films have been featured in curated programs and residencies such as Plataforma MX, Zanate Residency, the Flaherty Seminar, Kaalo 101, and have screened at key international festivals including CSFF and Clermont-Ferrand. Anaya served as cinematographer for the award-winning short film Kemonito and was 2nd Unit Director of Photography on the Netflix original series Santas Garnachas, released internationally in April 2025. His feature-length directorial debut, Sunset Shadows, is set to premiere in 2025. He is currently based in Stockholm, Sweden.
