How to Get Noticed (and Hired) on Spexster

Spexster is growing fast, and if you want to land more gigs, sell more content, and connect with top-tier clients, your profile needs to stand out. Your Spexster profile isn’t just a digital resume—it’s your personal pitch, your portfolio, and your first impression, all in one. Here’s how to make it count.

1. Nail Your Profile Pic

Why? Clients scroll fast. A strong profile picture stops them in their tracks.

Do:

• Use a high-quality, well-lit photo.
• Show yourself in action—on set, behind a camera, or directing your masterpiece.
• Keep it real. Clients want to hire you, not a blurry silhouette.

Don’t:

• Use your high school prom pic (unless your niche is ‘90s nostalgia commercials).
• Upload an AI-generated headshot that makes you look like a futuristic cyborg.
• Post a group photo where nobody knows which one is you. If it takes a detective to figure out who the filmmaker is, you’re doing it wrong.

Your profile photo is your first impression. Make it count—something that says, "I know what I'm doing, and I'm someone you'd actually enjoy working with."

2. Write a Bio That Sells

Why? Your bio is your elevator pitch. It’s your chance to tell clients what you do and why you’re the right fit.

• Be concise and specific. Instead of saying "I make videos," say "I specialize in cinematic automotive ads and high-energy sports content."
• Mention notable brands, projects, or collaborations.
• Let your personality come through. Clients don’t just hire skills—they hire people.

Example:
"I'm Alex, a cinematographer who thrives on high-speed storytelling. I've shot campaigns for Nike and ESPN, blending fast action with cinematic detail. Whether it's a high-energy sports ad or an emotional brand story, I make visuals that move people."

3. Add Your Location

Why? Clients search for talent by location. If they need a cinematographer in Los Angeles, but you don’t list your city, they’ll never find you.

• List your city and country to show up in searches.
• If you travel often, include your availability in different regions.
• Open to remote work? Mention that too.

4. Set a Clear Rate

Why? Clients move faster when they know what to expect. Listing your rate removes friction from the hiring process.

• Research industry standards to set a competitive rate.
• Factor in your experience, gear, and the value you bring.
• Adjust as your portfolio grows, but always be upfront about your pricing.

5. Define Your Style and Specialties

Why? Clients are looking for a specific aesthetic or skill set. The clearer you are, the more likely you’ll attract the right projects.

• Use keywords that reflect the type of work you want. Instead of just “filmmaker,” try “cinematic commercial director,” “drone operator,” or “music video editor.”
• Think niche. If you specialize in slow-motion action shots, highlight that.
• Your description should make it easy for clients to see why you’re the perfect match.

6. Showcase Your Gear

Why? Clients hiring high-end projects want to know you have the tools to deliver quality results.

• List your camera, lenses, drones, audio gear, and lighting setup.
• Be specific—mention brand names and models.
• If you have specialized equipment like a gimbal or underwater rig, call that out.

7. Keep Your Profile Up to Date

Why? Clients want to see your most recent and best work.

• Update your bio, rates, and portfolio every few months.
• Swap out older projects for new, high-quality samples.
• If you’ve upgraded gear or added a new skill, make sure your profile reflects that.

Final Thoughts

Your Spexster profile is your storefront. Make it easy for clients to see what you do, why you’re great at it, and how to hire you. A strong profile doesn’t just help you stand out—it helps you get paid.
